Lovinggood PTSA eNews! OM Teams have all your last minute supplies! Wednesday, May 21st  The 2 teams representing Lovinggood Middle School will be selling Sharpie pens to use during the 6th and 7th grade yearbook signings. They are $1.00 each and there will be a variety of colors choose from. They will be for sale before school and during the signing.  Also, available during the signing will be Cokes, Sprites, Water Bottles, and Lollipops. Each costs $1.00. /gas_station_attendant_2.gif) Raffle Tickets are still available for $5.00 each. The prize will be a $100 gas gift card! The raffle will be held on Friday, May 23rd---you don't have to be present to win! They will also be available at the yearbook signings. Lovinggood PTSA eNews!  BOOK FAIR REMINDER! There is still time to purchase you summer reading books at the Lovinggood PTSA Scholastic Book Fair. We received a new shipment Wednesday and now have several books by the authors on the required reading list for each grade level. Don't miss this chance to pick up the required books. For a complete list of books on the list, check our the Lovinggood website. In addition to these required books, we have many more great books to read over the summer. We received several more books in The Bluford Series that many students requested as well as a few copies of The People of Sparks. We have a great selection of best sellers and award winning books as well as Anime, Manga, sports and reference books. Parents -we even have summer reading books for yourdays at the pool and some great cookbooks with easy recipes for summer. Whatever you enjoy reading, you are sure to find something at the Book Fair. So come on by and stock up for summer.

Last chance to purchase this year's Lovinggood Legacy.  Yearbooks will be on sale this week each morning from 8:15 - 9:10 outside the Media Center. The cost is $40 each - cash only. Don't miss out, buy early before we sell out.
 Autograph supplements will be on sale beginning Thursday at the 8th grade picnic for 8th grade students. These supplements allow for an additional 8 pages of signature space. They will sell for $2.00 each, cash only. They will be available to 6th and 7th grade next week (beginning 5/19) at 8:15.

| | | Georgia PTA Partners with State's Afterschool Investment Council for Study of Youth Activities Available When the Last Bell Rings We want to hear from your students! Please have students complete this anonymous survey located at: www.surveymonkey.com/student Fact: In Georgia, over 1 million kids, at least half of school-age children, may spend time away from their parents between the hours of 3PM-6PM and for up to 10 weeks in the summer. How much of children's time is spent outside the classroom? In Georgia, 80% of children's time is spent outside the classroom. In most families, parents' and children's schedules don't mesh. Children are alone as much as 20 - 25 hours a week. Georgia PTA is working with the Georgia Afterschool Investment Council to study parent perceptions of afterschool activities across the state. The survey seeks to measure their perceived quantity and quality of choices available to today's youth during the hours immediately after school and before many adults get home. This project is funded by a grant awarded by The Mott Foundation through National PTA and is currently underway. In conjunction with this effort, this survey targets the impressions of those same activities among children in grades 5 and above. We would very much like your assistance. If you have children in this age range, please ask them to take our brief survey. The survey is anonymous and in no way will be tied back to your child's response. If you have more than one child in this age category, feel free to have each complete the survey separately. We want to hear from the perspective of the student as we move forward in our advocacy work in support of quality afterschool programs. It is important to find out what students are thinking across the state. There is no "one size fits all" approach to providing quality after school programs. Georgia PTA is asking all District Directors and Middle School PTA/PTSA Presidents to pass along this survey request to students in your area. The link can be typed directly into a web browser and will take kids only a few minutes to complete. We hope to compare the children's perspective with those offered by adults to identify gaps in after school programming needs and assessments in performance. Attention 8th Grade Parents:  Don’t forget about the 8th Grade Picnic to be held on Thursday, May 15th from 1:00 – 4:00. Activities include yearbook signing, karaoke contest, basketball and lots of food & fun! We can still use some parent volunteers to help set up, cook hotdogs, serve food, supervise and clean up.  The 8th Grade Picnic Committee is requesting donations of gift cards/ITune cards to be used as door prizes and karaoke contest prizes at the 8th Grade Picnic. TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
MAY 5-May12
 Lovinggood PTSA wants to Thank our Teachers in a big way but we need the help of our parents.Next Monday, we will host a Teacher Appreciation All-American Cook Out Luncheon. Our teachers will be allowed to have a duty free lunch and sit with their friends and enjoy a Barbeque on us.
We need help in the following areas: 
2-3 grill masters
parents to make and donate salads, i.e. pasta, garden etc.
Parents to donate an hour or two to cover duty free lunch,
several parents to help with set up and clean up
Please consider helping us out. This is a time to show all of Lovinggood staff how much we appreciate what they do for our children. Also, remember to have your students tell their teachers how much they appreciate them.
